New York's latest and striking proposal for relieving the congested streets is to have an elaborate system of moving sidewalks underground. Ii such a system were adopted in London (says a contemporary) one would he able to descend into a subway nt the Bank. say. nnd emerge into daylight p_jin at Charing Cress «r Earl's Court without hivine walked a step except up and down the stairs.
