The new term at Christ's College com* mences on Wednesaay next. A Competition Fair in. aid of the Veterans'. Home is to be held in the Canterbury Hall on October 22nd and 23rd. During the past week the practical exhibitions of glass blowing have been welT attended. The exhibition will be continued every afternoon and evening next week. The Spring and Bulb Show of the Canterbury Horticultural Society, announced originally to be held on September 18th and 19th, .has been postponed to September 22nd and 23rd, at Canterbury Hall. The Canterbury A. and P. Association's' annual horse parade takes place at Adding-, ton on Wednesday, September 24th. A meeting of ratepayers will be held at Woolston next Friday to consider loan pro-" posals. for improvements to the borough. Tenders for Ithe privileges at the Canterbury A. and P. Association's November Show are invited: Sydenham returned troopers will be welcomed home at a social in the Canterbury Hall on Friday evening mext. ■ A Court for -the revision of county ejectors' rolls for the riding of EBesmere, in the Selwyn County, will be held at Southbridge on tSeptember 20th, by Mr R. Beetham. Tho Court for the ridings of Avon, Riccarton, Heathcote, HaJsweJl, and Lin-, coin will be held at Christchurch on September 20th.
