POLITICAL ADDRESSES.
Mr A. W. Rutherford, a candidate for the Hurunui seat, addressed a well attended meeting at Hanmer on Thursday night. At the conclusion of the address, Mr Rutherford w_s accorded a hearty .vote of thanks. Mr John McArtihur was in the chair. (I-BESS ASSOCIATION TEXIGBAM.) DUNEDIN, September 12. Mr John White, solicitor, addressed the Port Chalmers electors last evening, and announced himself as a strong Opposition candidate. He advocated the curtailment of expenditure, the reduction of borrowing to the lowest possible rate, and a big reduction in the Defence vote.
