At the Oxford fortnightly sale on Thursday there was. an entry of 5000 sheep, consisting chiefly of wethers and hoggets. Competition was not very keen for hoggets, though a good .nany were sold. Good wethers and fat ewes* were in good demand. Fat wethers made from 15s to 17s 3d, store do. lis 6d to 14s. fat hoggets lis 4d to 13s 3d, store do.-6s 6d to 10s 6d, breeding ewes lis 3d to 14s. Tho New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, held their monthly auction sale of grain, produce, etc., at their Christchurch warehouses yesterday afternoon. The attendance of buyers was smaller than usual, probably owing to the proximity of the Coronation holiday, and bidding was not so spirited as at earlier sales in the season. Whole dry fowl wheat was in best demand at up to os lOd per bushel. Ordinary fair fowl feed brought from 3s Id to 3s 3d per bushel, while damaged and badly sprouted had to be passed in at from 2s 6d to 2. 9d. Oats showed a decline of fully 3d per bushel, and most of the larger parcels had to be passed in at from 2s 3d to 2s sd, as owners' reserves exceeded these prices. Barley was slow of sale, at from 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Seed potatoes met a moderate demand at from 20s to 25s for Derwents, and up to 60s for early sorts. Light oatsheaf chaff and damaged chaff were quite neglected.
