ENGLISH PRESENTATION TO MR SEDDON.
A month or two ago the "British-Aus-tralasian" (a paper published in London, devoted to colonial news) put forth a suggestion with reference to a presentation to Mr Seddon on his arrival in England. The paper, in its latest issue, s_ys: —"We have received numerous letters applauding the suggestion that the English and AngloXciw Zealand admirers of the Premier of New Zealand, should in som_ way co-operate with the people of the colony in the national testimonial which they are offering fcr Mr Seddon's acceptance. As. however, we learn that the local subscription list is practically closed with tbe splendid total of £5500, "we are driven to the conclusion that entirely separate action must ba initiated here. The majority ot our correspondents seem to prefer testifying their esteem by presenting to Mr Seddon and his devoted wife, some articles of plate or jewellery, ■ rather than adopting the purse idea. In this view we are inclined to coincide, and we hope in our next issue to announce that an executive has been formed with the object of making a presentation to Mr and Mrs Seddon, either at the reception which is to bs tendered to them on their arrival, or at the New Zealand diniier to be celebrated subsequently."
