SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
A STEAMER ASHORE. United Press. Association—By EJectrio Telegraph—Copyright. (Received Aprfl 9th, 10,44 am.) MELBOURNE, April 9. The steamer Paroo, bound to Adelaide, went ashore at Point Lonsdale, at the Beads, early this morning. She is in no present danger, bot assistance is being sent. (Received April 9th, 11.26 p.m.) The Paroo has been towed off. It is believed she has lost several blades of her propeller.
A BARQUE IN DISTRESS. SYDNEY, April 9. The Itaf.ian barque, Paola Madre. which left for Genoa early Inst montih, is in a disabled and tattered condition. She encountered a terrific hurricane off the coast of New Zealand on. March 21st. The boats were washed away, tbe bulwarks and wheelbouses destroyed, the steering gear injured, the sails lost, and the forecastle • flooded. The men worked two and a half days continuously an the pumps. The vessel made back to Sydney as soon as the weather moderated.
