Yesterday, before Messrs E. C. Bishop and F. D. S. Neave, J.P.s, John Nolan was fined 10s for drunkenness. John Anderson.was let Off -With a fine of ss, and one first offender was convicted and discharged. Another inebriate who had been liberated on bail and failed to appear was fined 10s. THE D.I.C. CASE. Harold Johnston was charged with having, on December 3rd, at Chiristchurch, stolen £258 9s 7d in money, the property of the Drapery Importing Company. Sub-Inspector Black asked for a remand till Saturday next, at 9.30 a.m. Mr Malley, who appeared for accused , , offered no objection to the remand, but requested that accused be allowed moderate bail. The Bench agreed to grant bail, accused in> £150 and two sureties of £75. John Gtiillemott was then charged with receiving the sum of £100 from Harold Johnston, knowing the same to have been dishonestly obtained. A remand whs also granted in this case, and on Mr M&lley'a application bail was allowed, accused in £100 and two sureties of £50. ALLEGED BAG STEALING. Thomas Mulligan was charged .with stealing, on November 4th, from Wafer's Hotel, a Gladstone bag and contents, Valued at ±J6, the property of Thomas Archibald Fraser, of Dutiedin, and another Gladstone bag, with contents valued at £15, the property of Jas". It. Patterson, of Wellington. Mr Malley appeared for tliis accused &!st>. The police asked for a remand fill Monday next, no objection being offered. Bail was granted in accused's own recognisance oi £100 and two sureties of £50 each. At Lyttelton yesterday Mr J. T. GBrice, J. P.., "was on the Bench. Elizabeth Penny, who had been demanded for medical treatment, was brought up and discharged, and ordered to pay 18s expenses. John Canning, charged with beting absent without leave from the-Tokomaru, was otfdered to pay coste, and to be put on board at onoe.
