December 17. i The University Council to-day adopted a report recommending the New Zealand University Senate to amend the statute , to include history, science, and art of teaching in the list of subjects for examination in the B.A. degree, and accept attendance at such lectures as a qualification for keeping terms; that the Minister for Education bs requested to take such he may think fit to provide for a more liberal course of training for teachers by means of tdßcient relationship between Normal School and University "Colleges on the lines iaid dwn by the Koyal Commission in its report to Parliament. In the event of an} reorganisation of the plan of study for traming teachers -provision should bs made whereby they may get the benefit of a University course, and that keeping terms in physics, chemistry, or botany be accepted for the D certificate.
