LINWOOD.
The Linwood Borough Council met last evening, when,, there were present fhe Mayor {Mr H. Pearce) and Crs. Otley, Brunt, Young, Clewortb, -Robertson, Schumacher, and Dixon. <jrs. Seed.and Cleworth were , appointed to attend the Conference convened by die Industrial Association. The Department of !Lajid« and Survey wrote refusing, to grant a,reserve as an endowment for the Linwood Park. The Royal Visit Committee wrote, refunding! an unspent £48 of the borough's contribiTtion to the expenses, of the reception. The Mayor and L*r. Brunt were appointed delegates! to a Conference for the election of representatives to the Charitable Aid Board. It was decided that Mr F. J. Board should be re-elefcU'd to represent the borough in that 'body.. The. Heatheote .Road Board offered its interest in tiie pound property, Ferry road, and the matter 4 was referred to a . Sub-Committee to deal with. The Works Committee's report, which was adopted, stated that three gangs were at- work channelling and draining, and that in the last fortnight half a mile of concreting and channelling had been "completed. Notice of motion was given hv Or. Seed to rescind last meeting's resolution not to join in a tramway tiust. Th* tender oi Merors Lucas Bros, wan accepted! for a supply of lamp-poxte. A deputation was" received complaining , of the' pumping of sswage into the city oufcfoJl drain, and urging the need oi channelling in (JasheJ. street east. The matter iras referred to the Works Committee, The Finance report, which was adopted, showed debit at general account; overdraft at bank, £1592 6s lid, and amount teiii on deposit, £450, •total £2042 6s lid. Credit at loan account. £1298 ?s 3d; credit at Recreation Ground account, £14 2s 7d. Account* to the value of £141 6s 4d were passed for payment.
