PRESENTATION TO MAJOR SNOW. Major Snow, who, until his promotion to the First Mounted Infantry Battalion, woe officer commanding the Canterbury -Mounted Rifles, was entertained by that corps last night in their orderly room at a smoking concert, and was also the recipient of a handsome present from the corps. In acknowledging the presentation Major Snow said that lie could not take the credit of re-organisiog the corps, and referred to the assistance Lieotenant-Colortel Slater and Captain. Opportunity was taken of the occasion to present S*ergeont Bradley and Trooper Chambers, who were married recently, with handsome marble clocks.. Numerous toasts were (honoured, and songs and other items were contributed by Trooper Hill, Messrs C. Zachariah, Petersen, D. Ryan, and Richards. Private Hobba, of the College Rifles, acted as accompanist.

Sergeant-Major Crespin. left yesterday morning for Waimate, where a volunteer camp is to be opened to-day. The Christohurch City Guards have elected Quartermaster-Sergeant Batchelor a lieutenant of the company.
