NEW BRIGHTON TROTTING CLUB.
The *nnu_l meeting of the Now Brighton Trotting Club was held last evenius, when there waa a fair attendance, Mr M. Mcllwraith presiding. Tho balance sheet showed the year's receipts to hsve been .61008 17s 6d and the expenditure -1133 3s 6d, leaving a dofioiency of _114 6a. Outside the ordinary work ing expenses __T0 8s 6d had been paid for improvements to the property, £33 10s o£ whwh had been refunded by Mr Mace. Amongst the principal items of revenue were: —Nomination* JEIT2 12s 6d, acceptances fill 12s 6d, totalisator receipts _487 7s 6d. On tho debit side the-largest items were stakes £610 and Governn__t tax _78 7s 9d. The balruioe sheet was adopted. In his report the Chairman referred to the fact that during tho past season only one meeting had been held, as only one permit had been granted by the Colonial Secretary. Altogether a large amount had been expended whioh would not appear in future balance sheets. Tha year's transactions had resulted in an actual profit of -52 l_a Gd. At tha last conference the olub bad been reprimanded for the way they had conducted then business. He (Mr Mcllwraith) had bc«a too unwell to attend the Conference, but h«_ no doubt tho club would this yaar be enabled to fully satisfy that body. Notwithstanding that the Hon. Carroll had stated the club would bo put down for one permit, he (the oh_irman) thought, as the club had proved its bona fides, it would receive two in future. The objection that tha club bod no grounds of its own was invalid, for now a twenty-one years' lease had been entered into with Mr Mace. The election of a 00-_aittee resulted as follows:— Messrs E. A. Archer, H. Mace, F. Mulholland, W. C. Morgan. H. Mcllwrailh, J. S. Slade, W. SmithsOD, and W.-.J. Walker. The earn* gontlemen were appointed stewards, with the Hddition of Mr D, McLean. ' Mr J. S. Slade was appointed hem. treasurer, the other officials to be a*--nin(ed by the committee. Three new members wore elected, and it was decided to recommend ths delegate to the Conference to urge the club's claim for _uo*.her permit. i After passing votes of thanks to the retiring 1 officials, tho meeting adjourned. .
