The Government nominee for the seat was understood to be Mr Jpbn Heslop, of Hawera, but Mr Heslop is not likely to stand owing -to ill-health. Mr Haseklen, of HunterviUe, will b3 tha" Opposition candidate, whilst Mr Remington has definitely decided to contest the seat in the Government interests. ■
The election will probably bs fixed for Wednesday, the 24th instant," ths writ being issued tomorrow^
