AN HISTORIC SITE.
Lord C_l_on of Kedlcston is preserving the historic site of the BUck Hole cf Calcutta, He has. hsd, the square site paved with polished black marble ordered from Italy. This space Is surround&d by a low iron railing on a slight stone plinth. Next winter a new monument of white marble will be erected on the site of the old obelisk raised by Hoi well, the survivor and historian of the tragedy. Lord Curzon will rewrite the inscription, inserting the many names of the victims that have recently bsen recovered. Excavations have been made to ascertain, whether there wero any remains of the sufferers, but nothing has been discovered;.
