LONDON MONEY MARKET.
The monthly meeting of the Avon Road Board was held on January 14th. Present: Mr A. B. Morgin (in the chair), Messrs Hawken, Dunlcp, Parish., and Spencer. Mr Borgfeldt asked that the eu'lvert at the junc-t-.on of Hill's and Hunger's roads be lowered. It was considered entirely a Drainage Board matter, but the Board would have no objection to Ms doing the woilv at liis own expense, ucder the supervision of the Board's surveyor. 'Mr G. Dunnage wrote re drainage from his property, Papanui. After consideration it was resolved, " That the Board cannot admit, tf.iy liability in the matter comp , ku«>e<l of by him." It was decided that the Riccarton Road Board be written to respecting , the drainage on the North road. The Board resolved to do its best to see that the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act relating to the clearing of Californian thistles by owners of land be strictly carried out. The clerk was instructed to have 50 yards of yarit placed on Ferry Road as soon as possible; and to have the thistles cut on tlie roads all over the district. Messrs Dunlop, Parish, and the cflerk iwere asked to inspect the bridges over Dudley Creek, Richmond, and report to next meeting. The surveyor reported that the contractor hud been given notice to start and clear the River Styx at once.
