THE VOLUNTEERS.

A shooting match took place on Tuesday between teams from the C.V.C. and the Southland Mounted Rifle.., at the Reserve Corps' range. The ranges were 200 and 500 yard.-:, -md the C.V.C. beat their opponents by 21 points. Tlie scores were:—C.V.C, at 200 yds 177, at SOOvds 165: total 3.2. Southland Mounted Rifles, at 2Covds 226. at 500 yds 95; total, 321. The ' Southland Mounted Rifles were entertained hy the C.V.C*. last nighf. at a smoke concert. A number of toasts were responded to, and various songs given during the evening, which passed oil most successfully. The Geraldine Rifles went under canvas for a week on the Gs-raldine School ground on Thursday last, and have bo.n putting in good work. On Sunday morning the corps assembled for church parad-j t to St. Mary's Church, where an appropriate sermon was preached l by the Rev. Staples Hamilton.
