THE ADDINGTON CAMP.
At the camp yesterday morning the Ashburton MR. held a foot parade at 6.15, when they were instructed by Staff-Ser-geant-Sliijor Culcman. At 10 o'clock both corps paraded and inarched to the Park, where they were exercised in battalion drill by Captain Lindsay, and afterwards in companies by their own officers. At 2.45 the corps again paraded, and were similarly instructed. Captain Buckley has made the following promotions in the Ashburton Mounted Rifles : —Lance-Corporal Christian to be corporal. Trooper Cow to be lance-corporal. It has been decided to hold a sports gathering on Saturdf vuxt, commenefng at 2 p.m. At noon ttxhy a committee of non-com-missioned officers was appointed, and drew up a programme. Trumpeter-Major Thompson was appointed secretary. A letter from the Pioneer Bicycle Club, as to combining their sport* with those of the corps, was considered, but the proposal could not be entertained as a large number of entries are expected for the military sports and the prognmme would be too lengthy. The competitions will be for the best troop horse. Spiral, Two Sections, Half Sections over Hurdles, Alarm. LloydT indsay. Best Jumper, Victoria Cross Ra'cc Cutting Turk's Head, Led Horse over Hurdles, and an Exchange Race. The Garrieon liand will be in attendance. CAUGHT A DREADFUL COLD. Marion Kooke, manager for T. M.
