MUSIC IN AUCKLAND.
Dr. Tli'.:ifia;», tho new lecturer in music at (no Ati'.kiund University College, and conductor i f tin Clijr.il Society, conducted a Choral Society practice for the Urst time lujtt night, and wu-s heartily welcomed on buhali oi tho members by the Hon. J. A. Tolt*. Otoiitsiuu was taken by -Air Henry Brett, proprietor of the "Auckland Star* (says a Prsxs Association telegram), to present tho Society with the magnificent organ erected in the' Choral Hall at the time of the Auckland Exhibition. The organ, which cost £786, was presented with the proviso that other musical societies can have the use of it at a nominal fee. Dr. Thomas has been appointed organist cf All Saints' Anglican Church.
