THE CLAIMS OF THE BULLER ELECTIONS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION , TXCZGKjIU.) REEFTON, September 16. A large public meeting,.to diseuss-the proposal of the extension of the railway from Reefton to Westport, adopted tha following resolutions:—"(l) That this meefciiKj is in entire accord with the people of Westport in their agitation lor railway connection wiin the Inangahuaand BullerValleys, with a view to the speedy opening up*~of the sawmilling and coal mining indnsfcries therein, to attain which the residents {hroughout ihs Buller electorate be individually and collectively invited to urge the Governnwttfc to carry out the wishes of the people; <2) that the Government be asked to obtain at an early date a flying survey of the coal-seams in the Inangahua Valley, and -a report by an expert thereon; also a (report upon tlj» land and timber that will be "ppened up by the proposed line; further, that an extension from the Reefton end of the Midkod railway should be proceeded with without delay, as a comparatively short distance would tap seams of coal that would command a ready sale throughout New Zealand; (3) that a Railway Extension League be appointed for the purpose of furthering the" movement without delay."
