THE JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
THE LIST OF OLD COLONISTS.
In connection with tfa& Jubilee, the Old Colonists , Committe& are making strenuous efforts to obtain a complete record of all fchose -who -were in the province prior and vtp to the 151'h. March, 1855, the date of the arrival of the lasfc ship chartered by the Canterbury Association. In the case of dsafth it is <tesiie& tihat the date and place oi death sbo\M be -recorded, and those tk>\? living their lull names and -present address. Lists of the particulars gathered by the ComwUee \vo to tivi •preswft date \me \>ee,Tv prepared, and are in course of being printed. These will be forwarded to t~?iy~old colonist -whose name and address -hs-s been obtained by the Committee, toother, with a circular jotter setting forth t-ue objects of the Committee, and asking that missing information should be supplied and tbe lists returned. Messrs R. J. S. Harman and S. C. Fairr and Archdeacon Cbolmondeley have been lihro-ugh the lists, and liave added considerably to their completeness, but the namas of pasj«ngsrs by many of the ships are yet wanting. Amy old colonists coming ■within the date should send their names in afc once, as this omission will probably reeult in some being left out of the special Jubilee festivities, and ttoa Committee is specially anxious that no Canterbury pilgrim ssa.O'Uiid be omitted. The list, when completed, will be kept as a record of ti)osz who were alive and took part in the Jubilee celebrations, forming a very interesting memento. - Names can be sent to the vice-chairman of the Old Colonists' Committee, Mr John Anderson, or to the secretary, Mr E. J. Rjghton, Palace Buildings.
