(special to "the press.") WELLINGTON, 11. Regarding the Christohurch Hospital, D_. MacGregor rep&rts:—"The present outpatient deportment is inadequate. The kitchen department does credit to Misg Ewart. It is tconomical and thoroughly efficient, with a woman cook and two assistants. The scrupulous cleanliness and tidiness of tlie Christchurch Hospital kitchen at an unexpected visit, shortly after 2 p.m was worth noting in contrast to other hospital kitchens, where men tire in charge at high salaries. Dr. Crooke and his assistant manage the institution very satisfactorily the patients are well cared for in every resect."

"The Timaru Hospital," the report says "has a resident medical officer, I>r. Gabites who had taken up office shortly before my visit. In the attractive grounds and within the building tire careful supervision of Major Jowsey was in evidence. The bathroom, and l*mtori_s at Thnaru are models. The institution deserves the public confidence in every respect." With respect to Waimate Hospital, Dr. MacGregor says.- —'"Mrs Chapman makes all comfortable and bomebke, and Drs. Ba_. clay and t>uiek_ha*__ look well after the patients."

It is announced that there have been changes at the Ashburton institution recently. Mis Mackay, matron for many ycirs past, has been succeeded by Miss McAndmv, formerly matron of Kiimara, and liter of Greymouth Hospitals. "Many nursing and sanitary reforms were needed," continues tlie report, "and we may hope that In fore long Miss McAndrew and her staff will -make this an up-to-date little hospital."
