THE BODY FOUND IN A GARDEN.

An inquest concerning the death of a female infant child found buried in a garden at Linwotxi, was. beCd at the Police Station yesterday afternoon. David Archer, 86 Nursery road, gave evidence as to the finding of the body on Saturday afternoon. Mrs Nicholls, who occupied the house in February last, stated that she was confined of a female child at that time. The child never moved or cried, and Dr. Hunt said it was stillborn, and gave -witness the certificate . produced. Constable Coster stated that he saw Mr Nicholls on Saturday night, who admitted having buried tie child in the box in the garden where it was found. Mrs Mary Anne Rowe, a norse at Linwood, stated that she nursed Mrs Nicholls in February last. The child just breathed for about five minutes. Dr. Syroes, who had made a post mortem examination of the child, statedt that tie lungs and viscera were gone. He did not consider a child stillborn if it lived and breathed even for a few minutes. The child should have been buried in the cemetery. There was no appearance of violence on the child. The coroner pointed out to the jury that the object of the inquest was to identify the child, and that it had died a natural death. The jury expressed themselves as being satisfied on these points.
