THEATRE ROYAL.

It is satisfactory to be able to record that the production of *" Hamlet" last night at the Theatre Royal drew a large and enthusiastic audience. In addition to thie, it is also worthy of note that the members of some of our dramatic organisations took the opportunity—unfortunately far too rare here—of seeing a Shakespearian play. Mr Bentley's Hamlet is a scholarly interpretation, and evinces a careful and thoughtful study of the part. Here and there, it is true, in the soliloquies, be ia apt, as far too many actors are, to rather give them as show elocutionary pieces rather than as Sflf-communing?, but, as a whole, his conception of the character is an artistic cue, deserving high commendation. The play scene and the closet scene were both given with considerable power, and one cannot but express pleasure that Mr Bentiey gave us so excellent a performance. The other parfs were fairly well filled, Miss W oodhill's Ophelia being worthy of commendation. "Hamlet" will be repeated this evening.
