ST. MARY'S CHURCH, MERIVALE.

Airay Watson, who presided, congratulated the parish on its yearly growth, and mentioned that instead of reading his Easter letter he proposed to place it in the parishioners' hands shortly. Hβ merred to the increase in the number of communicants, which was 76, at his first Easter, and was 133 last Sunday. Touching on finance he alluded to the falling off of about £10 in the general offertories, «nd observed that no one should have been surprised had the difference been greater, considering the calls on the people for the Patriotic and War Funds. He also congratulated the parish on being out of debt, and expressed his thanks to all who had assisted the church in different ways.

The report and statement of accounts presented by Mr Gibbs, the parishioners' warden, showed a credit balance of £13 12s bu, assets £41 12s Bd, and liabilities nil. Hβ moved the adoption of the report and made special reference to the extinction of the debt, and said that their expenditure of about £400 could £at be met out of an income of £500, which meant that the offertories must be increased or the Vestry at the end of the year would have to make a personal canvass of the parishioners to contribute the difference of the £100.

Mf G. L. Greenwood seconded the motion, which was carried.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—Vicar's churchwarden, Mr G. L. Greenwood; parishioners' Mr E. Y. Cox; vestry, Messrs J. S. Rutherford, J. A. Brown, H. D. Deal, A. H. Allen, A. L. parsons, H. P. Hill, J. Winstone, H. C. Satchell, W. Wood, and C. Treweek.
