TO THE EBITOK OV THE PBESS. Sir, —The people are not a little indebted to you for your leading articles on the dredging boom. This is a question on which the Press should be outspoken, or ruin will be the lot of hundreds of struggling persons m this city. A few of the claims on the Coast well likely pay, while scores of them will not. It is said, too, that there is no possibility of getting dredges built at the present time. Could you throw any light on this point. Those who are taking up shares in the hope of realising at an immediate profit, will be disappointed. They will find it much'easier business to load shares than, to unload them. Many think that speculators should not oe allowed to dredge dn the pockets of an excited public, unless the claims were reported upon by a Government expert. —Yours, etc., RED LIGHT.
