THEATRE ROYAL.

A pretty little sketch "My Life for His" preceded "David Garrick" at the Theatre Royal hist night. In this Miss Helen Gibson, Mr Wilton Power, and iTr Roland Stavcley played the principal parts. Mtiss Gibson lacked naturalness somewhat in the character of the simple village maiden. Both Mr Staveley and Mr Power were also unnecessarily "heavy in their respective parts. In "David Garrick,' which followed, Mr "Bentley gave a good pourtrayal of the a<&or who sacrifices bis love for his honour, bat in the drunken scene he hardly mado it sufficiently marked to the audience thai; he was acting only, a point which should stand out in boM relief. The rough play in wliich Garrick indulges after dinner could with advantage be shortened somewhat without in any way impairing the success of the scene. In the last act Mr Bentiey was very good indeed, particularly in the scene with Ada after the duel. Miss WoodhilTs Ada Ingot would have been improved had tliere been a little less self-consciousness in the character. As it was Miss Woodhill made the part somewhat forced and unnatural This wad particularly! noticeable in the scenes with her father and with David Garrick. The fussy self important Alderman Ingot, was played by Mr Ancelow, and the character parts of the guests at Alderman Ingot's dinner party were capitally token by Misses Hunt, Gorrick, and Lyndsay and Messrs Staveley, Power and Daniels. Mr Daly was also Very good as Squire Chivey. The Diece will be repeated to-nijrht, and on Friday "A House of "Mystery" will be given.
