No alteration took place on the second round, but going down the back stretch for home, Water—hot went to the front and led for a furlong, where Troubadour displaced him, and easily holding Dorry and Hangfire, won by two lengths, Hangfire beating Derry by a quarter of a length for second place, Watershot fourth. The latter fell at the jump entering the straight, and passing the stand Cannonade came to grief. Waiwera carried on the running till about three and a half furlongs from home, where Frost took command, but immediately gave way to Hutana, who had a length's advantage over the last hurdle, and eventually won by about four lengths from Frost; Nayborn an indifferent third.
