NOTES AND MEMORANDA.
Alterations on the Lyttelton and Christchurch line, which come into force on and after the 18th inst., appear elsewhere. During the season of Lent there will be a special service at the Cathedral on Thursday evenings at 8 p.m.- Canon Harper will give addresses on the first and three following Thursday evenings. The Sydenham Swimming Club's annual sports take place next Saturday, and judging by the record number of entries received should provide some good sport. The usual meeting of the Societe Francaise will be held at Girton College to-morrow at 8 p.m., when Proiessor Paul Robin will give an address. The Court of Directors of the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand meet at the Society's rooms on Monday next in the afternoon. In connection with the series of Sunday concerts to be given at the Theatre Royal by the Messrs Gardner, arrangements have been made to secure some novel limelight illustrations for the various songs. These have only just been received from Home. The new premises of the Christchurch Cycling Club will be opened this evening by a social. All the appointments, &c, in connection with the new building, are quite up-to-date, and the members have secured most convenient quarters.
