PRESIDENT'S CUP MATCHES.
The Midland and High School teams began a match at Hagley Park on Saturday, and when plajr ceased the scores were:—High School 70 (Lyttelton 29 and Kitson 14); Midland 111 (Barge 32, Buchanan 17, Green 17 and Machin 10 not out). Groa and Rom
were the most successful bowlers for the Midland, the former taking six wickets for 33 runs, and the latter four for 13, white for the High School Pearpoint took six for 47: Sydenham and Addington commenced a match with Christ's College on Saturday, I and when time was called the scores weret-1 , Christ's College 106 (Moore 23, Blunden j&, Cotterill 13, Masefield 10); Sydenham 81 for . six wickets (Hepburn 21, AUardyce 17, H. Rirwe 16). Allardyce and Ayrey bowled : well for Sydenham, and Broderick and Moore . for College. On Saturday, at Lyttelton, the Lancaster , Park-Lyttelton President's Cup match wa» ', opened, and as the result of the first inningi ' tlie local team had a lead of 42 runs. Lyt. telton scored 120 (Olliver not out 58, Sey« mowr 25, Lewin 10); Lancaster Park scored 78 (Turner 21, Saxton 12, Cross 12, Lafferty 11). Having only five minutes, Lyttelton, ; in their second Innings scored 2 runs before ] Just, sen., was given out leg before. For 1 Lancaster Park Brinsden took six widrtts for 39 runs, far Lyttelton the bowling honours were divided between Olliver, Mc« 1 Inerney and Just.
