Instead of holding their usual picnic away from Christchurch, the fruiterers had a gaia day at Hagley Park yesterday, 'when the principal attraction was a cricket match between teams representing the Wholesale and .Retail branches ot the trade. The former went in first and scored-60, C. Taylor contributing 20 ajid Gill 18. The Retail then went iv and registered the same total, D. Brown making ksi, A. Lord 19, and P. Taylor 12. C. Taylor and Gibbs bowled best for the Wholesale, and P. Taylor and Brown for the Retail. A band was in attendance and during the day dancing was indulged in, while several races were got off, ana in the evening a social was held 'in the Oddfellows' Hall. A match was played at Hagley Park yesterday between teams of eighteen aside, representing the Watchmakei-s and Jewellers, when the former won by thirteen wickets. Scores:—Jewellers 35 aiM 82 (Spencer 25, Fasse 20 and Butler 17); Watchmakers 100 (Edser 43, Wakelin 19 and Young 12), and 17 for four wickets. Edser, Lorimer and Reynolds bowled best for the winners and Spencer and Butler for the losers. The following will represent Sydenham and Addington C.C.:—President's, at College ground—AUardyce, A. As the Thursday cricket competition was postponed yesterday, a scratch game was played at Lancaster Park between sides chosen, by Messrs Blaikley and T. Smith, resulting in an easy win for the former's side. Scores: —Blaikley's side 132 (Fleming 35, Bromley 26, Lloyd 20, Wilding 18, Ansley 12); Smith's 55 (Bonnet 21). Bromley and Fleming bowled best for Blaikley's, and Simpson for Smith's. Next Saturday afternoon will see the completion of the present round of Cup matches. Should tho games be finished early, the next round will bo proceeded with, if possible. The matches then will be United v Sydenham and Addington, and Midland v Lancaster Park.
