SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
: <•* = The Southbrook School Committee met on Monday. Present—Messrs Withers (chairman), Pickard, Laskey, Buckley, Dyson. It was decided to vote tor Messrs Adams, Studholme, and Weston far the Beard of Education. The master reported that 11 newscholars had been admitted during the week, and that the following scholarships had been gained by pupils of the school in the recent examinations: —Annie Hughey, Rahgiora High School Scholarship; Gertrude Thwaites, *Board of Education, junior-; David Adamson, Beard of Governor's Exhibition; and that Cissie Dyson, a former pupil, had gained a continuation at the Girls' High School. It was decided to send a. letter of congratulation to the master. The question of an excursion was deferred till next meeting. The monthly meeting of the Tai Tapu Sciiool Committee was held on Monday. All the member were present, Mr Robert Macartney in the chair. The master's report was read, giving' attendance as boys 28.5, girls 36.3, total b4.8, roll number 99. With reference to corresnondence from the Board regarding tho election of three members, it was resolved—That, this Committee, having no confidence in the Board as now constituted, decline to vote for any of the retiring members. The Committee recorded their vote for Messrs Deardon. and Studholme.
