m The Wiliajnson, Musgrove Dramatic Company gave the final representation of "HarDour Lights" to a well-nlled house last night. To-night Bulwer Lytton's romantic drama, "The Lady of Lyons", will be staged. The Rev. J. W. Ivens, missionary from Melanesia, gave a lecture in St. Mark s Schoolroom, Rakaia, on Wednesday evening, on the missionary work. Lantern views of Norfolk Island, and objects of interest in connection with tue mission, were shown by liev. J. Holland, and a substantial collection was made in aid of the mission work. Sunuier residents had the opportunity on Tuesday night to listen to probably the" best vocal and instrumental talent that lias been heard in the Town Hall, the occasion being a concert in aid of the Sumner Ambulance and the Sumner Fire Brigade. The attendance was very good, and the financial results are expected to be satisfactory. The programme, which opened with pianolorte selections, included songs "Dreaming,' "Who's at My Window,' Gitana, "Harvest blumber Song,' "Out on the Deep, Afton Water,' "Love's Proving," a vocal duet "Maying," and an excellent pianoforte solo "Air do Baikt." The performers were Miss K. Young, J. -Uoir, _-\lice Gray, and Jennie West, and Messrs \V. A. Bowring, I. Hockley, and K. Barber. The accompanists were -Uiss Jennie West and Miss K. ioung. The ordinary meeting of tie Court Star of Canterbury Mas held on Monday evening, the CX. 13ro. Weakley in the cnair. Ihe Woodwards reported tiiat twelve members were on the sictc fund, and the secretary reported tue death of liro. H. Fox. P.D.C.K. \ Vat hew, one of the auditors, read the annual balance-sheet, which was received and adopted as satisfactory. 'Hie sick pay for the year was £665 10s 10d; funeral donations £190: medical expense* £381 15s, and the net profit on the year was £360 Bs. The accumulated capital to the credit ol tue sick fund amounted u> thu grand total of £9697 16s 8d the bulk of which is invested at an average rate of 6 per cent. A mb-committee was appointed to consider a scheme lor the assistance of old members.
