SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The Soutfobridgfe School Committee met on Friday evening, llr C. H. Willis in the chair. The Board of Education notified that Mr T. A. Gates, jun., had passed the pupil teachers' examination. The Committee voted for Messrs Adams, Dearden and Weston for the Board of Education. The Opawa School .Committee met on Tuesday. The "Inspector's report of the' school examination "was considered extremely satisfactory, and a hearty vote of thanks was unanimously carried, to be forwarded to the teachers. It was resolved that Longman's New Reader be the reading book for the standards IV. to VI. It was resolved to hold the annual picnic at Purau on Thursday, February 23rd. A vote of thanks was given to Mesdames Willock, Farrow and Miss Ellison, who had judged the sewing; also to Mrs Bray, Baunton, Wood, Willock and Farrow for their kindness in offering special prizes in connection with the sewing. Eight applications were received for the position ot pupil teacher, wliich, upon consideration, were reduced to four, and the master 'was requested to ascertain by test the most suitable candidate to fill the vacancy.
The St. Albans School Committee met on Wednesday, Mr H. A'Court in the chair. It was decided to have certain additions made to the parallel bars, &c, in the playground. The Board of Education notified that all the pupil teachers had passed ab the annual examination, and a hearty vote of congratulation was passed to the head master and teachers. It" was resolved to support Messrs Weston, Adams and Peryman for seats on the Board of Education.
