Nominations for the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting close to-day. The nominations taken on Friday for the leading handicaps at the Canterbury Jockey Club's Autumn" meeting were considerably fewer in number than, the number booked for the races a year ago. As regards, however, the Champagne Stakes and. Challenge Stakes, the number remaining in is as great as previously. In the Challenge Stakes Mr Stead has kept alive the engagement of no fewer than six, no other owner having more than two. In Mr Stead's lot is Multiform, who has twice credited him with the race; the other Yaldhurst candidates are the three-year-olds Conqueror and Altair, and the two-year-olds Screw Gun, St. Lucia and Sant Ilario, the two latter of whom claim maiden allowances. In the Champagne Mr Stead has five, two again being as many as any other owner has left in.
