RANGIORA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting was held on Friday. Present—The Mayor (Mr Good), and all the Councillors except Cγ. Luxton. Air R. OV Duncan offered to sell part of. Club Hotfl 'property to widen Blackett street. Referred to the Mayor and Cr. Shankland' to 3 Wkef advice. Intimationt .was received of shipment of three lengths engine hose. The Works Committee recommended 68 chains of asphalt footpath be laid. It ,waß decided to obtain the material, the Council's men to perform the work. ■• It was decided to.write •to Wellington for information as to making new burgess list. It was decided all rates not paid by Valentine's Day be charged 10 per cent. The financial statement showed receipts £90 Is, balance at Bank £189 7s 9d. Accounts, £69 13s 6d, were passed. Superintendent Smith, of the Fire Brigade, was granted ten days' leave to attend Conference at Queenstown. On the motion of Cγ. Shankland it was resolved the Mayor be paid an honorarium of £25 a year,.to include. 1898. Crs. Foster, Sansom, and Carmichael voted against, and the Mayor did not vote. The Mayor reported an interview with the Hon. Minister of Lands with respect to a water supply, and it was decided to write to the Waimakariri-Ashley Water Supply Board, asking leave to take a supply from Wilder's creek. Council then adjourned. •
