In connection with the murder and attempted suicide at Paddington, Flynn, the murdered woman, and Kelly, the murderer, became acquainted through tho former advertising for a husband. He believed.she was deceiving him, and they quarrelled over some money which Kelly wanted returned. THE FEDERAL CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE, February 3. The Federal Conference inserted a clause enabling the Federal Parliament to grant financial assistance to any State upon such terms as it might think fit. This provision is to be limited to ten years. Mr Dickson objected to tho provision that the State should elect the senators as a whole, and the Conference agreed to allow Queensland to elect as it thought fit. JAPANESE TRADE WITH MANILA.
