TEXTILE SCHOOLS.
The intense competition that now exists in the manufacturing of textile goods has necessitated, it would seem, the addition of this subject to the curriculum of schools of technology. In America, accordino- to a paper read by Mr B. Shaw, _f Huddersfield at the lorkshii-o College Textile Society' classes had been established with this object all over the States, with the result that already the American worker was now able to turn out the finest cloths. The State of Georgia has just appropriated 10,000dol for a textile school, which is to be supplied with the latest up to date machinery Germany is adopting a similar practice," and it is urged tliat if Great Britain is to hold her own against outside educated labour the same system will have to be followed.
