CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.
The committee of the Canterbury Jockey dub met on Wednesday afternoon, when the Hon. E. W. Parker was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Transfers wert granted from— J. B. Reid to C. G. Dalgety, eh c Golden Legend; T. Shannon to J. P. Belcher, yearling colt by Catesby—Rosalind. R. W. Coley was granted a gentleman rider's certificate. W. "Mason's application for a trainer's license was refused. Mr D. O'Brien deposited "foreign horse" certificates, in accordance with Rule 135, of bis Australian colts Malatua, Peerage and Aroma, and they were accepted. It was decided that the chairman arrange for the payment of the funeral expenses of the jockey McNeill, who was killed at the Ashburton Club's Meeting. Sub-committees were elected as follows:—Course, Messrs Campbell, Morten, Boyle, Reid, Stead and Williams; Programme, Messrs Williams, Pyne, Stead, Winter and Sir Geo. Clifford ; the chairman to be a member, ex officio of all committees. The report of, the course committee was adopted. The road from the main entrance gate had been re-formed, and it had been decided to erect a cloak-room and lavatory at the main entrance to the grand stand, and to arrange for carrying out a water supply. It was resolved that the judge be a paid official, applications for the position to be invited, by advertisement, up to June 30th. ; *
