ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Counoil of the Canterbury Acclimatisation Society was held yeeterday afternoon at the rooms of the A. and P. Association. Present—Messrs A. Carriok (president), A. Scott, H. N. Nalder, G. B. Ritchie, L. E. Clark, W. laard, F. W. Thompson, and Dra. Moorhouse and Deudy. The Garden Committee reported that it had decided to send Mr Hungerford 1000 young trout for liberation in the Hurunui river ; to forward 250 each of rainbow and brown trout to be liberated m the Cuat; to forward the balance of the perch in the Garden to the Wellington Society as agreed by the chairman, who had also reported that the young Hsh were being drafted and the percentage was very satisfactory, especially among the rainbow trout. The report was approved.

A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary that he could not accede to the request of the Society to extend the season for shooting hares to the 31st July, as it was opposed to the recommendations of the conference of Acclimatisation Societies. The secretary replied that the recommendations were not intended to apply to hares, to which no answer had been received.

Mr C. H. Croxton resigned his position as treasurer.

The following officers wore elected for the year:—President, Mr A. Carrick; vicepresidents, the Hon. J. T. Peacock and Mr A. Scott; hon. curator, Dr. Moorhouse.
