NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

To-nieht-Mr John Fuller and his company will give a popular entertainment at the Theatre Royal. The illustrative portion will comprise pictures of the United States of America, including all the points of interest. The musical programme is a very •good one, all tastes being consulted, from grave to gay, and there should be a large audience on the occasion.

The postponed annual cycling road race to the Wheatsheaf Hotel and back will take place on Thursday, the 16th inst. Entries close on the 13th.

The Linwood Cycling Club's sports will be held this afternoon ot Lancaster Park. The first race <vill be at 2 p.m. There are ten events, and as the fields are large some first clasG racing should be witnessed. The principal race on the programme is the G. L. Beath and Co.'a Challenge Shield of three miles, for which there are twenty-six starters. The Stanmore Band is to play during the afternoon, and Mr Edwards will serve afternoon tea in the old pavilion. The captain and officers of H.M.S. Tauranga have been invited to attend the meeting.

A musical evening will be given at St. Peter's, Ferry road, to-night, for which a very excellent programme has been arranged.

At a well attended meeting of the plumbers and gasfitters, a strong committee was elected for the annual social. The meeting was adjourned till the 15th inst. to make final arrangements.
