The New Guinea laud syndicate has paid £1000 as the first instalment due upon 40,000 acres of British New Guinea under the Land Con • csssion Act. The Syndicate has agreed to an amendment of the ordinance by the Colonial Office. Mr Chamberlain considers that the concession is regular, and is disinclined to cancel it. ' In reply to a question in the House of Commons, Mr Chamberlain said it was intended te submit the Syndicate's ordinance for the Queen's approval. Received June Bth, 10.30 p.m. Brisbane, June 8.
