RIOTS IN BELFAST.
ORANGE AND GREEN. MANY POLICE INJUBED. THE MILITARY CALLED OIJT. United Press Assertion—By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. Received Jane Bth, 10 a.m. London, Jane 7. Serious riots at Belfast began in the morning and lasted all day. The procession organised by the Nationalists in celebration of the 1798 rebellion was met by" the Orangemen. The latter unhorsed the policemen and beat them savagely. Paving stones and bricks were thrown, and the Orangemen held the streets, chasing the police out of them. The Inniskillen and North Staffordshire regiments were called out and charged th&mob, but were unable to restore order. Many policemen were seriously injured. At midnight the disorder had not been quelled. It was feared that it would be necessary far the military to fire upon the mob.
