At the ordinary horse market on Saturday some seventy animals were offered, and i—ere was a good demand foi the better.. »#a» especially horsea suitable for farm work. Heavy draughts brought from £24 10s to i 330, light do fill 10s to £24 10s, hacks, £2 10s to £17. Several horses were sold on account of Mr Duncan McLean. At.a special sale of North Island and Sidney horses young draughts realised from £25 to £30, and aged sorts brought from £16 to £17. There was little or no demand for light horses. Of the horses bringing top prices three wept to the Christchurch Citty Council and four to the Midland railway. There was a big entry at the poultry and pig sales, and here also the best were easily placed at satisfactory prices. Heavy roosters ran from 2s to 3s 9d, light do ls to 2s 3d, pullets 2s 3d to 3s 3d, hens ls 3d to 2s 3d* ducks 3s 6d to 4s 6d, geese 5s to 5s 9d, turkey hens 6s 3d to 8s 6d, gobblers 12s to 16s, all at per pair. In pigs light baconers brought from 25s to 31s 6d, porkers 15s to 25s od, weaners 4s to 10s.
