t Saturday, May 21. (Before R. Beetham, Esq., S.M.) Drxtxkenness.—Harry Pointon, for being found drunk in charge of a horse and cart, was fined £1, or forty-eight hours' imprisonment. A man not before convicted was fined ss, or in default forty-eight hours , imprisonment. Lahceny.—John Blackler (16) "pleaded guilty to a charge of having stolen from Hard ing's auetionroonisapair of bo »ts valued at 9s 6d. In answer to his Worship, he said he took the boots because his own boots were worn out, and he was hard up and to buy others. He had beon working on a farm for 10s a week, but he had sent the money he earned to his parents, and his job was over. He was remanded till May 23rd for a report by the Probation Officer, being released in the meantime. Alleged Theft.—Hugh McDnnough waa charged with stealing from the Queen's Hotel a covert coat valued at £3 10s, the property of John Hennah. The prisoner had been arrested the previous night, and on the application of the police he was remanded till May 23rd.
