NOTES AND MEMORANDA.

The entries for the Ohrietohuroh Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club's annual chow, to be held on the 16th, 17th and 18th June, close on Thursday, the 26th inefc. It will be found on reference to the prize schedule issued by this Club that the classification is the most liberal and the prize money the largest that has ever been placed before breeders in Christchnrch. Fanciers of poultry, pigeons, canaries and children's pets are reminded elsewhere that entries for the coming Sydenham poultry show will close to-day. During the last week entries hare been received from all parts of the colony, and the coming show promises well. To-morrow, in the Lyceum, the second of the series " Sights and Scenes in Other Lands" will be given, the subject being "Bomo, her temples, her palaces, her statues and her ruins," which will be illustrated by coloured limelight views, and included in the incidental music will be a cornet solo, '• The Lost Chord," with organ accompaniment. » A trial of the new Massey-Harris combined grain and fertiliser drill and spring tooth cultivator will be held on the farm of Mesws Walker Brothers, Dunsandel, on Monday next, at 10 a. m. Mr John Fuller and his Myriorama Company return to town on Monday from Ashburton, where they have been playing a most successful season, and give an entertainment at the Theatre Royal on the Queen's Birthday. The Queen's life will be illustrated, the most striking events of her sixty-one years' glorious reign being depicted. The •• National Anthem " will be rendered by the company, as also will patriotic songs and stirring recitations. The plan is now open at Milner and Thompson's. Mr W. Harker will meet the farmers and producers of Canterbury at the Oddfellows' Ball, Lichfield street, at 3 p.m. to-day. The second term of 1898 will begin at Christ's College on Wednesday, June Ist. The head master will meet parents and gutudians from 3.30 to 4.30 p.m. on May 30th, and from 9.15 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 31st May. The next term of the Boys' High Sohool will commence on June Ist. The head muter will be at the school' on Tuesday, May 31st, from 9.30 to 12.30; As will be seen by a notification elsewhere, the next term of the School of Art will commence on 25th inst. The next term of the Girls' High School will commence on June Ist. The Lady Principal will be at homo to parents or .guardians at her residence, Webb street, 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 30th, and it the school from 9.30 to 12.30 on Tuesday, May 31st. The programme for the concert to be given in the Choral Hall on Tuesday night, in connection with the United Friendly Societies' Benevolent Fund, is a very attractive one. Vocal items will be given by Miss Lilian Smith, Mrs Howie, Messrs A. Millar, S. Bell, B. S. Collier, and C. Edgar, instrumental selections by Mr D. Sinclair and the orchestra. The annual meeting of the Christchurch Bowling Club will be held probably during the ensuing week, and it is understood that the Treasurer has a very satisfactory balance sheet to produce. A meeting to arrange for a dog show has been fixed to take place at Warner's Hotel, to-night.
