MARKET REPORTS.

There was a good attendance at the Rangiora markets on Tuesday, and a fair business done. In the Central saleyards of Mr W. Buss there was an entry of 9000 sheep, 90 cattle, 220 pigs. Sheep--Pi ices were a trifle better. Bacon pigs showed a rise. Prices were :—Freezing wethers 12s 8d to 13s, butchers' fat ewes 5s to 6s 3d, fat lambs 9s to 10s, stores 5s to 6s, small lambs _s to 4s, halfbred breeding ewes 5s 6d to 6s, | older sorts 3s to 4s, good store turnip wethers 9s lid to 10s 3d, poor crossbred wethers 5s 6d to 7s, halfbred boilers 3s 6d to 3s, merino boilers 9d to 2s. Cattle—Beef equal to 17s to 18s per 1001b, springers £3 to £4 10s, dry cows £\ 5s to £2, good yearline's 15s to 20s, two-year-olds 35s to 40s. Pigs—Prime baconers £2 7s 6d to £3 2s 6d, porkers 25s to 30s, good stores 20s to 28s, small do 15s to 18s, weaners 8s to 12s, suckers 3s to 63 6d. In the produce yards of Mr A. P. Tutton woolly sheepskins 3s to 4s, pelts lOd to 3s, wool 5d per lb, fowls Is to 3s 6d pair, ducks 2s 9d, geese ss, milling wheat 3s 9d to 4s, chick wheat 3s to 3s 9d, oats 2s 2d to 256.1. feed barley 2s 9d, beans 2s 9d, peas 3s to 43, grass seed 2s 6d to 4s, ryegrass _i 9d to ha, cocksfoot 3d to 4d lb, cowgrass 6J.d to7d, white clover 5d to 6d, oatsheaf chaff 65s to 70-i ton, straw do 355, bran 70s, sharps 85s, flour (roller) 20s sack, do (roller) 235, cheese 3d to 3_d lb, bacon 4d to sd, apples 2s 6d case, carrots 30s ton, potatoes 40.3 to 60s. At the North Canterbury yards the entry was 3500, of which 2800 were sold. Prices were—Fat lambs 9s 3d to 9s lOd, fat ewes 6s 9d to 8s 3d, two-tooths mixed 7s 3d to 8* 3d, halfbred wethers 7s 6d to 9s, crossbred boilers Is 6d to 3s, store lambs 4s 9d to 5s 7d, two-tooth ewes 7s 3d to 7s 6d, full mouth breeding ewes 4s 9d to 5s 7d. At the Amberley yards on Monday there ] was an entry of 13,000, many of which changed hands. Halfbred two-tooth ewes 63 3d to 7s 6d, do six-tooth to Bs, full mouthed do 2s 6d to 4s, store wethers 6s to 8s 9d, fat ewes 7s 6d, merino ewes 3s sd, boilers 9d to Is 9d, lambs 2s 8d to 4s, Shropshire rams 2gs, English Leicester do to lg. At the Tinwald Yards yesterday there were 10,000 to 11,000 sheep, 55 head of cattle. The fat sheep pens were well filled with second class sheep. The butchers were ] reluctant in doing business. Fat and store sheep were very hard to quit, and many of the lines were passed in unsold. Forward wethers were the only sheep for which there was any competition. The prices are as follows :—Fat crossbred ewe 3, 4s 6d, 5s 6d, 6s 3d, &s sci, 63 6<i, 6s 10d, 7s, 8s 2d ; fat meriuo ewes, 3s, 4s 4d, 4s 8d ; fat merino wethers, 2s 6d to 7s 3d for some very good ones; forward lambs, 4s 2d, 4s Bd, 4s 9d, 5s Sd, 5s 9d, 6s 9d, 83 ; small do, Is lOd to 3s 3d ; forward wethers, 7s 2d, 10s, lis 7d ; sound-mouth and young crossbred ewes, 3s 4d, 5s 2d, 5s 5d to 6s 9d; sound-mouth merino ewes, 2s 3d to 2*. 6d ; boilers, Is to I 2s 7d. Cattle—Beef, from 16s to 18s per cwt, not of first-rate quality; steers, £4, ; £4 10s, £4 3s 6d ,* heifers, £4 ss, £4 17s 6d, £4 ; vealers, 17s ; cow beef, no sale at any price; store cattle, no sale at any price. Pigs—Stubblers, 18s 6d, 245, 19s 6(1, 295, 30s; sows, 37s 6d ; weaners, 4s, Bs, 9s 6d, 6s; baconers, 425. Rams, from 10s 6d to l£g«, but bad sale. The usual weekly sale was held at the Midland Saleyards yesterday, when between 2000 and 3000 sheep were yarded, consisting principally of fat Jambs, forward wethers and ewes of different ages. Freezing lambs did not sell quite a3 freely as last week, and prices, except for the primest .sorts were a shade easier. Store sheep were in very fair demand, considering the fact that the dry windy weather of late must have had _ a serious effect upon the springing feed. Best fat lambs made 103 3d to 10 lid, including a line of 112 at the higher'figure, secondary sorts 8s 4d to 9s 9d, forward stores 7s 3d to Bs, 150 four-tooth forward and fat crossbred wethers 10s 2d, forward wethers 89 4d to 8s Bd, ligha twotooth do 7s to 7s 3d, fat tnorino wethers 6s lOd, fat crossbred ewes!ss 6d, full - mouth crossbred ewes 4s 4d, to 4s 9d,' two-tooth crossbred ewes 65,. crossbred boilers 2s 9d to 2s lid, merino'do Is to Is 4d. In future the weekly Bale at the Midland Yards will be held on Thursday, as the present* date has been found to (' ish with Ashburton, Rangiora and Sheffield. The next sale will therefore be held on Thursday, 31st inst.
