AUCKLAND, March 21. A lad named Wright, aged sixteen years, a son of Mr D. A. Wright, stationmaster at Helensville, accidentally shot himself on Saturday night. The boy, who was employed as a messenger at the Helensville telegraph office, was sent out to deliver a telegram, and shortly afterwards he was found dead, lying over his mother's grave, shot in the side. At the inquest, a verdict of "Accidental death" was returned.

A man, named Deßlois, dropped dead on the Kimihia racecourse, Huntly. He leaves a wife and family in Auckland.

GISBORNE, March 21.

A sad accident occurred early on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of Master Vincent Pyke, eon of Mr Vincent Pyke, Manager of the Bank of New Zealand. Master Pyke, who had been in ill-health for some time past, and found the heat ia hie bedroom very trying, got up to open the window. He had been warned against doing so lest he might get a chill, bat had preferred to cave others trouble. In opening the window, however, he overbalanced himself, and fell some distance to the pavement beneath, fracturing his skull. The injury resulted in his death. The body of a man, apparently middleaged, in an advanced stage of decomposition, has been found in a ditch near the park race* course. The body is unrecognisable, and there is nothing about the clothing with which it can be identified. A bottle halffall of rum was by the side of the body, and a hymn book was found in a pocket. No one is known to be missing. BLENHEIM, March 21.

Mr William Baker Girling, a well known merchant and an old resident here, died somewhat suddenly yesterday morning.

Mr John Stevens, a well-known West Coaster, living at the Totara bridge, near Rosa, fell back while dressing himself the other morning, and died in a few minutes from heart disease.
