Russia, yielding to the Sultan's appeal, has postponed the payment of the balance of the Russo-Turkish war indemnity, and at the same time accepted an assurance that it will be paid from sources outside of the Greek indemnity. It is believed that the concession has been made by Russia with the intention of facilitating the appointment of Prince George of Greece as Governor of Crete.
