The deaths in February were 156, a decrease of 58 on the number ia January. Of the total deaths, males contributed 89, and females 67; Fifty-eight of the deathwere of children under 5 years of age, being 37.18 per cent, of the whole number, and 53 of these were under 1 year of age. There were 40 deaths of person* of 65 years and upwards. Five men, 67, 74, 75, 77, 78, and five women, 65, 68, 69, 83 (two), died at Auckland; six men, 66, 68, 76, 79, 82, 86, and seven women, 68, 69, 77, 78, 83, 91, 97, at Wellington ; three men, 70, 78, 88, and five women, 66, 75, 77, 78, 87, at Christchurch; and seven men, 65 (three), 70, 74, 77, 92, and two women, 67, 84, at Dunedin. ■■■ : i- • 3'§ .
