The seecl exhibits were so even in quality that the judges spent several hours in deciding the awards.. They, .deserve the greatest possible credit for their painstaking and careful examination. Messrs Williams and Kettle, of Napier, sent a couple of sacks as an extra exhibit. One of these is ryegrass of over 401b to the bushel, and the other cocksfoot 231b. These were cleaned by Messrs Andrews and Beaven'e cleaning machinery. In the class for the best collection of agricultural and garden seed g , Messrs Sawtell and Waehsmann were the only exhibitors, and were awarded the silver medal. Forthe' est collection,imported or otherwise. Messrs G. G. Stead and Co. sent a very fine exhibit of farm and garden seeds. This included no less than seventy-six different varieties. Along the front of the stand are ranged seed pans showing the prolific germination of the various seeds. This exhibit was awarded the silver medal. Messrs oawtell, Waehsmann and Co.'s exhibit of farm and garden seeds included 140 varieties, exhibited in bags ranged in rows on the stand. This was awarded the bronze medal in the class. For red clover Messrs Sawtell and Waehsmann came first, Messrs G. G. Stead and Co. being second, very highly commended and commended for their three exhibits. In Alsike clover Messrs Sawtell and Waehsmann were first, with Messrs Stead and Co. second and highly commended. The white clover exhibits took a good deal of trouble to decide. Ultimately the prizes were awarded as under : —First and second, G. G. Stead and Co., dreesed by the patent rotary machine of the firm; commended Messrs Sawtell and Waehsmann.
