The monthly meeting of the West Christchurch Committee was held on Wednesday. Present—Mr W. McClea (chairman), and Messrs W. Smith, G. T. Chisnall, G. Watson, W. J. Watson and C. D. Morris. The headmaster forwarded a letter from Mr T. W. Ambrose, tendering his resignation of the position of first assistant master, having been appointed headmaster at Rangiora, and he recommended that Messrs F. J. Rowley, 8.A., P. Menzies, 8.A., W. Kain and J. Irwin be promoted in the order named, and the Board be asked to advertise for a junior assistant master. It was agreed to accept Mr Ambrosa's resignation with regret and to congratulate him upon his promotion, and to ask the Board to fill the vacancy as suggested by the headmaster. The tender of Mr C. Goodwin for asphalt and top-dressing was accepted. The Belfast Committee held their monthly meeting on Monday evening. PresentMessrs E. Thompson (chairman), Easterbrook, Morgan, Richards, Craig and O'Cdllaghan. The master reported—Average attendance 225, on the roll 270. The Committee congratulated the teaching staff on the result of the examination and the success of the school concert.
